Underground Storage Tank Program

The purpose of the underground storage tank (UST) program is to protect public health and the environment from exposure to hazardous materials stored in underground storage tanks. The primary focus is on the protection of groundwater from contamination. Activities include inspection, permitting, monitoring, repair, installation, and removal of USTs.

San Joaquin County EHD offers free classes presented by NES Inc. that are available to all facility business owners and operators, to better educate UST owners and operators on their responsibilities, including inspections, recordkeeping, and training requirements. If you are interested in attending these free classes, please visit San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD) Archives - NES (nesglobal.net) to sign up; spaces are limited to five (5) attendees per business per class.

If you have questions about USTs or wish to know more about the program and associated program fees, please contact the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) at (209) 468-3420  or for more information visit our website at https://www.sjgov.org/department/envhealth/home.
