Driveway Permit

Planning to add a driveway or expand an existing driveway on your property? Apply for a permit to make sure your driveway will meet our community’s standards.

A driveway permit authorizes the construction, repair, repaving, or expansion of a driveway. A driveway access permit may need to be filed separately to the transportation department.

Online

Step 1.Plan your driveway

During the application process you will need to upload a site drawing showing new or expanded driveway. Include the exact locations and dimensions of all of these features:

  • Property lines
  • Buildings
  • Driveways
  • Streets
  • Alleys
  • The proposed location of the driveway
  • The amount of ground cover (unpaved area) in the yard

Step 2.Review the requirements

If your driveway permit is approved, all work in the right-of-way, including curb, gutter, driveway approach/apron, and sidewalk must be performed by a City licensed Sidewalk contractor. Sidewalk contractor will be required to obtain a Right-of-Way/Sidewalk permit to work in the right-of-way AFTER your driveway permit has been approved.

If your driveway work will be part of a larger development project requiring a Land Use (LUDS) permit, this Driveway Permit Application is not required. However, any work in the right-of-way will require a Right-of-Way/Sidewalk Permit.
