Hazardous Waste Generator Program

HW label.jpg

The purpose of this program is the protection of public health and the environment from exposure to hazardous wastes by regulating the businesses and industries that generate hazardous waste. The Hazardous Waste Generator Program is authorized to enforce state laws and regulations pertaining to the management of hazardous waste. This is accomplished through a comprehensive program of inspection, chemical emergency response, surveillance, complaint investigations, and assistance to industry, enforcement, and public education.

If your business will generate hazardous waste, you will need to apply for a hazardous waste generator permit. If you have questions about hazardous waste generation or wish to know more about the program and associated program fees, please contact the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) at (209) 468-3420 or for more information visit our website at https://www.sjgov.org/department/envhealth/home.

If your business no longer generates hazardous wastes, contact EHD at (209) 468-3420 to schedule a closure inspection and inactivate the facility permit(s).
